The Visa Telephone Information Service

The Visa Telephone Information Service is available
from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except Italian holidays.

  • To schedule normal and emergency* visa interviews
  • For visa application procedures and general visa information

The Visa Telephone Information Service provides both visa information and visa appointment scheduling services and can be reached by dialing the following numbers:
Either Outside or Inside Italy: +39 (02) 3032-9656 (a credit card charge of €15 will apply – MasterCard and Visa only)
Inside Italy Only: 899-34-34-32 (landline cost = €1.5 per minute, plus VAT; cell phone charge may be higher).

The appointment schedule for visa interview is made available every two months . Applicants have the ability to schedule their visa interview for the current month or the next calendar month. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Beginning 1 October 2008, all toll telephone numbers starting with 899 dialed from a landline telephone will automatically be blocked according to the new regulation promulgated by the Italian Telecommunication Authority for consumer protection (Delibere n. 418/07/CONS, n. 97/08/CONS, n. 201/08/CONS e 348/08/CONS). For information on how to reactivate 899 toll numbers, please contact your appropriate landline telephone service provider.

Please note that if you are inside Italy and you do not want to activate the ability to call the 899-34-34-32 number or if you are outside of Italy, then you must call +39 (02) 3032-9656 to schedule an appointment (a credit card charge of 15 Euro will apply – MasterCard and Visa only).

*Emergencies include:

  • Urgent medical treatment
  • Urgent business travel
  • Family emergency (death of a close relative)
  • Appearance in a U.S. Court

The Rome visa section serves the residents of the Rome visa district, which includes the Regions of: Lazio, Abruzzo, Sardegna, Umbria and Marche.

CONSULATE GENERAL MILAN - Visa Section

The Milan visa section serves the residents of the Milan visa district, which includes the Regions of: Valle D'Aosta, Piemonte, Lombardia, Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Liguria and Emilia Romagna (Provinces of Piacenza and Parma only).

CONSULATE GENERAL FLORENCE - Visa Section

The Florence visa section serves the residents of the Florence visa district, which includes the Regions of: Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna (all except the Provinces of Piacenza and Parma) as well as the Republic of San Marino.

The Naples Non Immigrant visa section serves the residents of the Naples visa district, which includes the Regions of: Campania, Molise, Basilicata, Puglia, Calabria, and Sicilia

To serve you better, please indicate the subject of your inquiry on the subject line (e.g., student visa, visitor visa, worker visa, spouse visa, affidavit of support, etc.).

Appointments cannot be made by e-mail. You can only schedule an appointment through the Telephone Visa Information Service.
