U.S. Citizen Services

Important Security Announcement

Please do not bring mobile phones or any electronic devices, such as Blackberries, iPods, or PDAs as they are not allowed within the Embassy or Consulates General. We also strongly advise that you do not bring strollers, large bags, such as backpacks, suitcases or packages to the interview as there are no storage facilities on the grounds of our facilities.

Only person(s) seeking consular services will be admitted into the Embassy or Consulates General. Exceptions will be made only if those seeking consular services are under 18, or if they are disabled and require assistance.

Applicants who do not follow these instructions will experience considerable delays at the security check point.

 

ROME : The U.S. Embassy in Rome offers a full range of services for U.S. citizens in the regions of Lazio, Marche, Umbria, Abruzzo, and Sardegna.

The U.S. Consulate General in Milan offers a full range of services for U.S. citizens in the regions of Valle D'Aosta, Piemonte, Lombardia, Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Liguria, and Emilia-Romagna (Provinces of Piacenza and Parma only).

Upcoming Transportation Strikes in June and July

The U.S. Embassy in Rome has received information that Italian transport unions have threatened to hold several strikes on the following days in June and July:  

  • Friday, June 18th : 24 hours - ALITALIA /AIR ONE flight crews.
  • Friday, June 25th: 24 hours - All airports' personnel across Italy.
  • Friday, June 25th: 8 hours : 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. - Train workers.
  • Friday, June 25th: 4 hours of delayed departure -Ferry workers.
  • Friday, June 25th: 24 hours  - local transport workers.
  • Thursday, July 8th : 24 hours (from 9 p.m. of July 8th to 6 p.m. of July 9th)- Train workers.
  • Friday, July 9th: 4 hours: noon to 4 p.m.- ENAV (Italy's air-safety agency) personnel from Padua Airport.
  • Friday, July 9th: 24 hours  - Local transport workers.
  • Monday, July 19: 4 hours: noon to 4 p.m. MERIDIANAFLY pilots.
  • Monday, July 19: 24 hours - ALITALIA CAI and AIR ONE flight crews.
  • Tuesday, July 20 : 24 hours - ASSOHANDLERS baggage handlers.

The U.S. Embassy in Rome advises all U.S. citizens to check with transportation providers to reconfirm travel arrangements.

 

Holiday Closure

All Mission offices in Italy will be closed on Monday, September 6, 2010 in observance of the Labor Day American holiday. See the holiday list.
